Transliteration alongside all Arabic texts
Category: Feature request Priority: P3 Area: Localization Reports: 1 thread Status: Open
Summary
A happy user asks that transliteration be displayed alongside the Arabic script so non-Arabic readers and speakers can follow along and pronounce texts correctly. Over a short back-and-forth with Abdellatif he clarified the scope: all Arabic texts — du'as and Quran alike ("as long as it's Arabic") — and emphasized that transliteration especially helps reverts who are still learning Arabic. He sent a screenshot (a "copy & paste version") as an example. Abdellatif closed the thread with "We'll find a way to support insha'Allah."

Recently introduced to the app and enjoying the search results; requests transliteration for non-Arabic readers:
I was recently introduced to your app, Qaf, and I'm enjoying all the search results. So; my request is for the non-Arabic readers and speakers, to put alongside the Arabic, also use transliteration.
Follow-up clarifications when Abdellatif asked where he'd like to see it and for which texts:
Here is a copy & paste version. The transliteration will definitely help reverts as they go along with learning Arabic in the meantime.
For all Arabic texts. Dua's, & Quran texts. As long its Arabic.
Details / repro
- Device: iPhone ("Sent from my iPhone").
- He attached an example screenshot,
IMG_1751.jpeg, with his "copy & paste version" showing the format he wants (attachment referenced in the thread, not in the dataset body). - Scope confirmed by the user: every Arabic text surface in the app — du'as and Quranic text — should carry a transliteration alongside the Arabic.
- Primary audience: reverts learning Arabic; secondarily any non-Arabic reader/speaker.
