$1,000 lifetime beyond budget; waiting for cheaper monthly/Pro plan

Category: Questions & membership Priority: P1 Area: billing Reports: 4 Status: Open

Summary

These users inquired about the lifetime membership, received the standard $1,000 terms, and explicitly declined on price — all four said they will wait for the upcoming monthly/Pro subscription (quoted to them at ~$19-20/mo or $99/yr) or support the project some other way. One (Samer Koujuk) wanted to gift the membership to his hometown imam in Eastern France; Abdellatif offered a 2-for-1 via promo code 50OFF, but even $500 was beyond his budget. This matches Abdellatif's own read in the Omar Twait thread ("8 people purchased so far... the cost is quite steep") and is a clear demand signal that a lower-priced recurring tier will convert this segment. All four expect to be notified when the cheaper plan ships.

Asked for lifetime info, then declined on budget and said he will wait for the monthly sub. Also suggested a "caveman type" extension to reduce thinking-token usage; Abdellatif said token-spend reduction will get a full sprint and put caveman on the experiments list.

Ws. That’s outside my budget. I will wait for the monthly sub. Meanwhile have you considered a caveman type extension which can reduce thinking token usage.

Lives in Paris; wanted one of the 100 memberships primarily to gift to the young imam of his hometown in Eastern France ("he combines a deep understanding of the deen with a real understanding of the dunya"). Abdellatif offered two lifetimes for the price of one with promo code 50OFF ($500); Samer had misunderstood the offer as free, and even $500 was beyond his means, so he will watch for regular subscriptions.

What makes it especially meaningful to me is that, if possible, I’d actually like to offer the membership to the imam of my hometown in Eastern France.

Follow-up after the offer:

Unfortunately, even with the very generous 50% discount, $500 is a little beyond what I can afford at the moment, especially as my initial idea was to gift the membership to the imam of my hometown.

Builds community projects himself and wanted to contribute to make Qaf more viable; after hearing $1,000 he said it is beyond what he expected and he will support the project through other means.

Could you let me know how much the lifetime membership would cost

Follow-up:

Honestly this is beyond what I expected and I can't afford to pay this much right now

Asked for the lifetime plan details, then said it is out of budget and he will subscribe to the upcoming Pro plan instead. Abdellatif quoted the regular subscription at about $20/mo or $99/yr and asked him to send feedback in the meantime.

It seems that the lifetime plan is still out of my budget, hence I will subscribe to the upcoming pro plan instead.
