Help obtaining the Unified Medical Dictionary database
Category: Questions & membership Priority: P3 Area: Other (off-topic request) Reports: 2 threads (same sender, duplicate email) Status: Open
Summary
Dr. Mutaz Elhasan, a physician and medical translator working on Arabic medical-terminology (تعريب طبي) projects, sent the same long, very complimentary email to support@qaf.ai twice (two separate threads, ~2 hours apart on 2026-08-16). He praises Qaf as a rare high-quality Arabic tech project, then asks whether the team — given its Arabic-language expertise — can guide him to legally obtain the Unified Medical Dictionary (المعجم الطبي الموحّد) terminology database. He explicitly wants a lawful, licensed path: pointers to the owning body, the right contact channel, a licensed copy, or a trustworthy alternative source. This is off-topic for Qaf; Abdellatif replied on one thread that the team has no direct experience with the dictionary but would pass along anything useful. No product action needed beyond possibly closing both threads.

A physician and medical translator praises Qaf at length, introduces his work on standardizing Arabic medical terminology, and asks for help finding a legal, authorized way to obtain the Unified Medical Dictionary database after his own attempts to reach the owning parties failed.
ومن أهم الموارد التي أسعى منذ مدة إلى الاستفادة منها المعجم الطبي الموحّد (Unified Medical Dictionary)، ولا سيما قاعدة بيانات مصطلحاته العربية والإنجليزية، لما لها من قيمة كبيرة في أعمال التعريب الطبي وضبط المصطلحات.
One of the most important resources I have long sought to benefit from is the Unified Medical Dictionary — especially its Arabic/English terminology database — given its great value for Arabic medical translation and terminology standardization.
Abdellatif's reply (2026-08-18): thanked him for the kind words, said the team unfortunately has no direct experience with the Unified Medical Dictionary or its database and has never worked in that area, wished him success, and promised to let him know if any useful contact or information surfaces.

I would be very grateful if you could help me with any of the following: pointing me to the body that can grant official permission to obtain the database, telling me the right way to contact its maintainers, helping me get a licensed copy if available, or directing me to any trustworthy alternative source that offers the dictionary's data in a legal, organized way.
Details / repro
- Sender emphasizes his goal is strictly scientific/linguistic and that he wants to respect the rights of the dictionary's owners and its terms of use.
- Both emails were sent to support@qaf.ai and carry the same subject: "طلب مساعدة في الوصول إلى قاعدة بيانات المعجم الطبي الموحّد" (Request for help accessing the Unified Medical Dictionary database).
- A Superhuman reminder fired on both threads on 2026-08-18; the reply was sent from tifa3333@gmail.com on thread
